Given the fact the Emoji Movie has become a real hit, Mecca Bingo has decided to hold a poll in order to find out the attitude of the Brits to the funny images that became an integral part of our life not so long ago.

According to the results of the Mecca Bingo, 7 in 10 British people agree that emojis have greater impact than words and a third of the interviewed told that they prefer to see emojis instead of words.

Furthermore, more than a half of Brits, 63%, confess that they use these funny symbols while texting every day and the most popular of the images are a pile of poo, aubergine and See-No-Evil monkey.

As early as in the 1990s, emojis entered our life and Apple was the first to add them in their iPhone keyboard in 2011.

Even before the launch of the Emoji movie, the Mecca Bingo poll interviewed 1,000 people and found out that basically emojis were used to express a hangover (18.1%), embarrassment (17.2%), excitement ()16%) and sarcasm (16%).

During the poll, British people were asked to choose 5 occasions when they prefer to use emojis rather than words. The results are the following:

  • • The nauseated face to show we are hung-over (18%)
  • • The See-No-Evil monkey to show embarrassment (17.2%)
  • • The woman dancing to show you’re ready for a night out (16.7%)
  • • The side eyes to mock something (16.5%)
  • • The pile of poo to be cheeky (16.1%)

Mecca Bingo online, which can boast of their own exclusive variety of Emoji Mecca slots, comments that the launch of the Emoji Movie help them to highlight how these funny images entered the life of millions of people worldwide and even replaced numbers and bingo balls.

When asked about situations that emojis should not be used, the answer was that in some formal situations like the doctors, they are inappropriate. 77% did not want to see emojis while getting a report an anything medical, 52.7% considered them wrong in CVs and 49.3% did not need them in the news.

The spokesperson for Mecca Bingo Caroline Webb told, “It seems emojis really do speak louder than words, from using them to flirt, to having their own game of bingo and even featuring in the latest blockbuster.

They are a great way to represent emotions and who knows in the future maybe we’ll even see them replacing words in the dictionary!”
